Moving to the Sunshine Coast

Hi there,
My husband and I are considering relocating from the Lower Mainland to the Sunshine Coast. We also have a young daughter. We've visited many, many times and love it. Would like to hear some perspectives of people who have done the same. We're hoping to get away from big city, impersonal living and into a more community-based way of life. But a few people from Vancouver have mentioned to us that it can be difficult to be accepted by the local community. Is this true?
